The Great Entertainment Company was established by Raymond and Cathryn Gaspar with
an objective to offer world class entertainment to the region. In December 2005, the company
began its productions in Dubai where it staged The Nutcracker Ballet, with sold out
performances. Following that success, more ballet productions were scheduled, and in
February 2006, Romeo & Juliet came to Dubai and Abu Dhabi with another sell out run. In
May 2006, Swan Lake was the first ballet performed in the UAE accompanied by a Symphony Orchestra, the setting at Dubai Media City was spectacular and the event was hailed as "Swansational!".

In September 2006 Madame Butterfly became the country's first fully staged opera at the
Madinat Arena, Jumeirah. November brought legendary performer Lionel Blair to the stage
to host Simply Ballroom in the newly opened Centrepoint Theatre. In December more ballets
were staged with the Rostov State Ballet's stunning performance of Giselle and The Nutcracker.
2007 has seen the start of a series of specially commissioned musicals for children, Ali Baba
and The Adventures of Sindbad, plus high energy acrobatics with The Flying Superkids. In
May, the company staged the first tour by the UK's prestigious Royal Ballet School featuring
stunning performances by the next generation of ballet stars.
